Our School Story

A Family Owned and Operated School

Monica Reid has been involved in language education as a teacher, entrepreneur, advocate and mother since 1997. As bilingual sales & marketing manager for a very successful family owned international tech company, she witnessed how the needs of a global economy demanded new language skillsets and cultural acumen from corporate executives within her industry. The world had changed. Customers in Latin America were desiring Spanish fluency and literacy skillsets, as well as cultural awareness from her company’s representatives in order to successfully compete for contracts. No longer would American companies get a free pass.

Bilingualism and Biliteracy

Desiring bilingualism and biliteracy for her own children, Monica and other parents became advocates for immersion and dual language programs within school districts in Arizona. Many districts listened, opening immersion programs in Spanish and Chinese throughout the state. She then became an early childhood education teacher in a Spanish Language Immersion Preschool and a Program Ambassador to a newly created Spanish Immersion Elementary School. She also opened a Kindergarten Preparation Enrichment Business, which taught preschoolers to read and other necessary skillsets for the transition to elementary school.

Today she is the Founder and Director of an elite immersion language preschool, Bilingual Whiz Kidz, cultivating a new generation of young Spanish and Chinese speakers in the Richardson and surrounding areas.

Our Unique Community

Preschool years are a time of childhood firsts and family firsts too. The choices, routines and rituals made during this time of family firsts will define the family culture and many future outcomes. On behalf of your child, thank you for choosing our unique school community, a great choice amongst many first choices.

As a member of the Bilingual Whiz Kidz community, please befriend and enjoy fellow parents at our school. Be sure to exchange information, mentorship and share good times with each other. Many of our graduates will attend the same elementary, middle and high schools together and your child’s friends will feel like your own children, their families like your own family. Peer group families are a precious resource and the relationships something to cherish.

Celebrating Culture, Values, and Community

By teaching through Spanish and Chinese immersion and through the eyes of cultural awareness, we instill within our students the inherent value and dignity of all human beings and cultures, creating a future adult capable of thriving within the complex community structures and diverse cultural societies.

Bilingual Whiz Kidz Values

Culture
We believe that it is important to nurture cultural awareness and grow responsible global citizens. We explore Chinese, Spanish, Latin American and Asian music, dance, food, geography, regional art, and traditions. Our students celebrate other cultures, learn cultural mindfulness and embrace our diverse world! Preschoolers participate in shows, so bring your cameras!
Kindness
Some of the greatest lessons learned in preschool boil down to basic values. Honesty, kindness, sharing, gratitude, taking care of others and respecting nature are just some of the topics we discuss and then model. Each week we dedicate time to explore and practice these important attributes through stories, crafts, play, projects and special visitors.
Community
Our school garden is used as both part of our STEM curriculum as well as how we model community cooperation and teach teamwork. With our garden, we teach students about the life cycle of plants, the journey of food from farm to table, nutrition, cuisine from around the world, and more. Our students learn gratitude and an appreciation of the bounty Mother Earth gives. Students even prepare a Thanksgiving dinner from the food they grow plus design and operate their own outdoor Farmer’s Market, selling and trading the fruits of their labor.
